ZZQ Investment Pty Ltd is proposing to construct a Hotel on the property at 11-17 Ardlie Street, Westmeadows. The property has an extant building that is listed on the Heritage Overlay (HO374) for Hume City Council that will remain and be incorporated into the final design of the Hotel. The activity area is adjacent to the Moonee Ponds Creek and associated parklands.

ArchLink was engaged to prepare a Cultural Heritage Management Plan for the site. The initial assessment concluded it was likely that Aboriginal cultural heritage would be present due to several places being recorded nearby and the apparent lack of significant disturbance to the property. As such, the assessment progressed directly to fieldwork.

The testing phase identified a low to medium density sub-surface Aboriginal cultural heritage flaked stone artefact scatter across the south western portion of the activity area. Specific management conditions are now in place to mitigate impacts to the place.

At the conclusion of the works the artefacts will be repatriated to the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation (WWCHAC) for reburied in accordance with their Repatriation Policy.
